Western Illinois University has provided me with the opportunity to attend career fairs and visit professional tours of facilities, both of which pertain to Supply Chain Management. Not only have I been able to connect with individuals working in this field, I have also gained practical knowledge of how facilities function. Thanks to Western Illinois University, my past employers, and current mentors, I am building the skill sets required for my desired career. During the summer of 2018, I completed an internship with Becker Logistics, a third party logistics provider based out of Glendale Heights, Illinois. At Becker Logistics, I served as a load planner for the firm. This required me to get very familiar with our transportation management system "McLeod" and interact with customers on a daily basis, accepting and processing tenders into our systems as well as provide lane rate quotes for customers and bidding on their freight spot boards. Upon the successful completion of my internship I was offered a full time position with Becker Logistics as an account manager in customer sales. In December of 2018, I graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Supply Chain Management and I now work full time at Becker Logistics at our downtown Chicago location.
