• Reviewed divisional business performance across the Group and led improvement activities as required including divisions in North America, Europe and the Far East.• Developed a NPI process which led to improved operational and supply chain input and directly influenced improved on time delivery, quality and margin of new products.• Drove improvements in product definition process enabling outsourcing of high level assemblies.• Supported business development activities in North America and Europe, achieving process, quality and lead time improvements which positively influenced customer perception.• Introduced modular design philosophies to improve first time pass rates and maximise opportunities for outsourcing of high level assemblies.THREE MONTH SECONDMENT AS OPERATIONS DIRECTOR IN NANOSCIENCE DIVISION: o Relocated the manufacture of an entire product line of dilution refrigerators from Germany to the UK following the acquisition of a new business.o Launched a development programme for dilution refrigerators to standardise the product and modularise the design whilst developing the supply chain to supply tested modules. Changed in-house operations resulting in a 20% cost reduction and 50% reduction in lead time.o Launched a stock reduction programme to reduce stock levels by 40% within the Nanoscience division.

• Reviewed a new scientific research instrument using ground breaking technology. • Recommended and implemented a bottom up first article review process to re-establish manufacturing control resulting in: o A repeatable manufacturing standard, a 60% improvement in manufacturing lead time and a 30% cost reduction were achieved.o Runner up in the 2007/2008 Chairman’s awards for technical innovation.

• Member of the Management Board and held quality, engineering and HS&E responsibility for a forging and machining solution provider to the aerospace industry, across four manufacturing divisions on a single site, turning over £42 million with 570 employees. • Moved the business from a substantial loss making position in 2003/04 to a position of EBIT in excess of £2m in the year 2005/06. During 2006 the company was rated as one of the top five performing VC engineering businesses in the UK.• Sat on steering committee for the Birmingham University engineering doctorate programme.
