I’ve been working in the New Zealand tech industry for 10 years and in that time have had the privilege to work with some of the most successful software companies in this part of the world.Problem solving is what gets me out of bed - the bigger the problem the better - and having evolved from design to development to product, touching everything in between, I’ve become a “jack of all trades”.I have a wealth of experience in software from working at companies like Vend and Serato, as well as big businesses like The Warehouse. In those roles I’ve also worked directly with companies like Apple, Paypal and Xero - both in New Zealand and across the Pacific.I specialise in product development, rapid prototyping, full-stack development and user-centred design.

Technology Manager
After having an MVP built by an external agency, my role was to bring the JBA product in-house and help to establish a team of developers ready for a fast-paced (but ice cream fuelled) working environment. At the helm of building out pricing models and a white label solution, I helped in moving the product from 1 to 1,000 users while ensuring the platform was ready and robust. I also helped in designing and building a system to replace an antiquated Learning Record Service, vastly improving the businesses online learning offering.
Design + Product Manager
My time at The Warehouse was spent on a newly formed Agile team to look at tackling customer problems using mobile solutions. We worked through several problems that customers had day-to-day in-store and in doing so, developed a fast and accurate price scanner to be used by customers or team members. The app allowed customers to report incorrectly priced products and be assured of what they would pay at checkout, an issue the existing Warehouse app struggled with.
Product Manager
I worked as Product Manager for Vend In-Store - including Vend Register for iPad, Web Register and Vend Display. Made up of Analysts, Designers, iOS Developers, Front-end Developers and QA, I worked with an awesome team to ensure we built the best possible solutions for retailers to run their business with.I’ve taken a very hands on approach in Product Management, ensuring to be a part of Design, QA, Marketing - and most importantly talking face to face with retailers in New Zealand, Australia and abroad - to ensure the product grew the way a retailers needed it to.We worked hard to build new Vend clients that are fast, robust and feature rich - helping retailers to process millions of sales a week.I also managed the development of a Vend ‘lite’ client for the Poynt payment terminal in late 2014. Working with an external contractor and in partnership with the Poynt team, we created a polished proof of concept for the Money 20/20 conference in Las Vegas.I’ve spent time across various other aspects of Vend including Payments, Integrations and Partnerships - dealing with the likes of Apple, Paypal and Xero. This often involved regular travel to San Francisco to represent Vend, working out of the Kiwi Landing Pad and meeting with a wide array of big and small startups in the Bay Area.
Online Product Manager
I operated as a glue between the Web and Marketing teams, working on front- and back-end projects for both Serato.com and the Serato DJ software itself. With over a million visitors a month to our website, we took great care to plan releases - often catering to very tight deadlines. As a developer and a designer in the past, I helped to bring some of Serato's most ambitious marketing projects to life, including the launch of Serato DJ and the Serato Icon series. In working with the Marketing and Web teams, we brought some of Serato's biggest releases to market including the launch of Serato DJ and DJ Intro, Serato Video and Serato Remote.
Web Developer
I worked primarily on Serato.com and Whitelabel.net, and I was also fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to build an iOS Midi Controller Prototype for Serato Scratch Live that later went on to become Serato Remote.
Graphic Designer & Web Developer
At Wellcom I started out as Graphic Designer and soon became the primary Web Developer for large clients in both New Zealand and Australia. We worked on small and large projects for clients such as Honda, Jetstar, Toys 'R Us, Repco and New Zealand Rally.
Graphic Designer & Mac Operator
During my time at Nicholson Print (a part of Bluestar Group), I was responsible for brand execution on a wide array of print collateral for Air New Zealand, Westpac, Farmers, American Express, Holden and Vodafone.
