Intuitive, compassionate, listener. Once upon a time I was a 12 year old girl who was inspired, healed, and motivated by psychology. I spent years as a student of energy healing, holistic medicine, and eastern philosophies. I became certified to the Master Teacher degree in dozens of various energy healing modalities such as Reiki, Seichim, and Shamballa Multidimensional Healing. I taught and practiced energy healing, meditation, mindfulness, wellness, and wholeness of being. My skills as an educator and my gift for working with children led me to earn a degree in English and Education. Through my thirties and forties I've been privileged to work in an early childhood development center; public elementary schools in Portsmouth New Hampshire; and in the homes of local families as a guide, educator, and caregiver for toddlers and elementary aged children. The Covid 19 pandemic changed everything. My work with children suddenly became complicated as the children and families I worked with were in crisis. Mental, emotional, and behavioral troubles that were never an issue for these little ones before were suddenly brought to the forefront as a repercussion of distance learning, fear, and being indefinitely confined during lock down times. Although I had taken formal education courses during my associates and bachelors degrees I had never worked as paraprofessional before other than to occasionally sub-in; but now I was trouble shooting the needs of my child clients and creating make shift IEP plans for them and their families so that we could get through the long haul of lock downs and distance learning. The families I worked for were so impressed with my knowledge and understanding of psychology and my ability to create individualized education plans and interventions for their troubled kids that I was urged to seek out a new career as a clinical mental health counselor. I immediately began the admissions process and enrolled in Southern New Hampshire's Master of Arts and Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I have been a student in this program for over a year now and I am proud to say that I have excelled and currently maintain a 4.0 GPA. I am developing my professional identity and am eager to be of service as a clinical mental health counselor for women, children, and families who are in need of my unique and specialized mental health services.
