I have been a Lay Counselor since 2015, counseling individuals going through various concerns and issues. Although it is not a licensed position, I have received training on how to recognize emotional/cognitive/neurobiological issues. I am also a co-leader of the Lay Counseling ministry in the church; therefore, I assist in training other lay counselors and caregivers, ensure that all of the appropriate number CE's have been obtained for the year, ensure legal and insurance obligations are being met, as well as provide the staff of the church necessary information about the ministry. Prior to COVID lockdown, I was a youth advocate, working with troubled children and teens who, for one reason or another, have Children and Youth Services involved in their lives. As their advocate, I mentored them in order to better work through their issues and become better individuals in the long run. I not only used my counseling and coaching skills, but I also developed one-on-one, dependable relationships in the lives of those who have dealt with trauma and extreme family dysfunction. While continuing my education to receive my Bachelor's, and then Master's, in Christian Counseling, I worked at UPMC Health Plan/Community Care Behavioral Health and worked on the administrative end in the psychological field. I assisted in processing claims for long-term care for the intellectually/emotionally disabled.Now, I am the full-time administrative assistant at Celebration Community Church in Dillsburg, PA. I get to work where I serve, and serve where I work.
