I worked within the Medical Technology Division, where I applied human factors ideologies and methods along the full spectrum of product development, from user needs analysis and concept generation to risk assessment and validation testing. Cambridge Consultants is a design consultancy with focuses on various industry sectors and, with each product, strives to balance the technical complexities of device mechanics with the emotional aspects of aesthetics and experience that together produce thoughtful design.

I served primarily as an undergraduate researcher for Georgia Tech HomeLab, focusing on evaluation of home health products and aging-in-place initiatives through in-home studies with older adults. I additionally supported accessibility development of voting system user interfaces, investigation of hydration in older adults, and design and evaluation of consumer products and medical devices.Georgia Tech HomeLab is comprised of a population of over 550 adults aged 50 and over in the Greater Atlanta Area and researchers from various backgrounds working together to investigate aging, health, and technology. It is part of the Consumer Product Integration Branch which evaluates products and advises design guidelines with the goals of improving usability and accessibility on a broad scale, including collaboration with the Arthritis Foundation Ease-of-Use Program.

I provided technical and administrative support for sensitive, government-sponsored projects, including facilitation with the coding of approximately 100 flight data processing files in XML and Python.

As a supplement to Georgia Tech curriculum (course BMED 4813), I spent over 50 hours shadowing and interacting with emergency department clinicians to examine and evaluate processes and environments according to ethnographic principles. I completed 4 team projects in evidence-based design, focused on built environment, process, safety, and devices.

I served as a resident assistant for 36 female freshmen in a dorm setting, where I developed relationships and community through programs focused on personal and professional development, academics, and diversity. I additionally planned and executed 2 community service projects for 16 staff members.

With a team of 4 other teaching assistants, I guided 6 teams of 3-5 students on development of rapid prototyping, CAD, and problem-solving skills.

Aside from traditional sales and customer service responsibilities, I performed as a leading visual merchandiser for a staff of roughly 25 sales associates and helped position the store as the top seller of gift and impulse items for Summer 2010. I also assisted with the training of several new employees, including 2 assistant managers.

I advised students in Georgia Tech’s freshman seminar class on methods to develop a successful college career. I later presented in Fall 2013 for another freshman seminar on Georgia Tech's Biomedical Engineering program and the career opportunities it provided.
