Services focus on strategy design, desk-based and field research, standards development and revision, programme design, monitoring and evaluation and other forms of technical assistance in the field of responsible mining and sourcing, with a particular focus on artisanal and small-scale mining. Some Achievements:- Led the development and implementation of a national ASM sector baseline methodology using qualitative and quantitative research methods to generate reliable results on production and population statistics, social, economic and environmental risks and value chain characteristics. The tools are of use to both public policy makers and implementing agencies as well as industry as part of their upstream due diligence efforts. Levin Sources has completed four country-wide baseline studies using this methodology.- Was one of the principle authors of the revised Regional Certification Mechanism manual of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Regional - a regional standard for mineral production and trade free from conflict and serious human rights abuses.- Contributed to the development of the DRC ASM national strategy and action plan and led the development of the Kenyan Artisanal Mining Strategy (2017).- Developed and delivered over 20 projects related to ASM and responsible sourcing over a five year period (2015-2020) for Clients including World Bank, GIZ, UNDP, UNICEF, BGR, DFID, Conservation International, IMPACT and the Trafigura Foundation.- Have been a core member of the Levin Sources team contributing to growth of the company from a team of 4 in 2015 to a team of 17 as of early 2020. By incorporating both field and desk-based research methods to determine the drivers for mining, Adam’s work is both sensitive to community issues and commercially astute.Since joining Levin Sources, Adam has worked on mineral sector reform and artisanal and small-scale mining formalisation; public policy; technical training programmes for artisanal miners and producer community needs assessments. He was instrumental in the design of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Mineral Tracking Database; the development and implementation of the ICGLR Third Party Audits process; a National Strategy and Action Plan for ‘Services d’assistance et e’encadrement du small scale mining’ (SAESSCAM) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and baseline studies of Guinea’s gold and diamond artisanal and small-scale mining sectors.Before joining Levin Sources, Adam worked as a teacher in France, where he taught English and politics.
