A preservationist and architectural historian settled in Puerto Rico, Andrés Santana-Miranda completed a Bachelor of Environmental Design at the University of Puerto Rico in 2022 and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation at Columbia University in 2024. With experience in architectural history and research, he focuses on Puerto Rican preservation policy and climate change challenges with heritage.While in New York, Andrés focused his work on the Puerto Rican diaspora and the intersections between climate change and heritage, researching with the World Monuments Fund and the NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project. His master’s thesis centered on developing alternative heritage-focused vulnerability assessments with Puerto Rico and the Central Aguirre Historic District as its case study.Andrés currently works as the Project Coordinator of the Historic Buildings and Sites Division of the Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Puerto Rico—CENCOR. He also continues to collaborate with the NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project as a research consultant, focusing on Latine LGBT individuals and groups living in the city.
