After completing my undergraduate education, I entered graduate school at the University of Notre Dame. I received a M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering in January 2013. I defended my Ph.D. dissertation in Computer Science and Engineering in July 2013, working in the Bioinformatics lab under the direction of Dr. Scott Emrich. This position provided me many opportunities for collaboration both with biologists and computer scientists focusing on scalable computing. My primary work in the lab was focused on scalable bioinformatics solutions. After completing the requirements for the Ph.D., I moved to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the Department of Computational Biology. While at St. Jude, I contributed to the development of their clinical sequencing pipeline and to various other projects including the St. Jude LIFE study. After more than 4 years at St. Jude, I moved to the North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies where I contributed to the Fourth National Climate Assessment. After the successful publication of the Fourth National Climate Assessment, I rejoined St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer. In this position, I was a core part of the publication of the St. Jude Cloud paper and oversee the Genomics Group within the St. Jude Cloud team.
