Retail is all about not giving your customers a headache and immediately solving any problems that may arise. At Walgreens, I was much more independent. The job was more about managing the departments I was assigned to by myself. Whether it was photos, the cash register, or stocking, independence taught me how to problem-solve by myself.In the photos department, I took passport pictures and edited them. Additionally, I printed out customers’ photo orders from the Walgreens app. Stocking involved having me restock the items that were low or facing items the right way in case they fell or were placed in a different section. Cleaning involved mopping the floors of the bathroom and changing out the covers of the trash cans. The cash register deserves a whole section to itself. Dealing with an onset of difficult customers was the most enlightening part of the job. Demanding customers are very similar to toddlers. Calming down and explaining very clearly is the most effective way to deal with them.At the end of the day, I helped customers find the product looking for and checked them out.

During my time as a Team Member, I was able to learn what it meant to be when you're a part of a team. It was also an incredibly important time in my life, as it was how I learned the communication skill.I was required to take guests' orders. Orders often included popcorn, drinks, food from the kitchen, and offering any utensils. With my team members, we were also able to increase the sales of the AMC Stubs memberships. At the end of each day came a wave of satisfaction after learning that I was able to convince guests and build relationships with them.Learning to clean up after yourself and others was the most important part of the job. I had to wash dishes, wipe down the counters, and clean any spills. Trash runs involved two people taking all the trash throughout the day and throwing it in the mall's dumpster. It taught people not only practical life skills, but also discipline.At the end of the day, I served guests and made sure they had the best time possible.
