Lumiere Education is an organization founded by researchers from Harvard and Oxford that offers research opportunities for high school students. It connects ambitious students with top-tier Ph.D. mentors from universities worldwide, allowing them to engage in independent research projects. These projects help students develop expertise in their chosen fields, gain valuable research experience, and even publish their findings in prestigious journals. The program operates virtually, which allows students to balance research with other commitments and gives them access to a global network of scholars.Through Lumiere, I worked with a mentor from Cambridge University to write a research paper on how sports companies integrate sustainable business practices into their production processes. My research involved conducting in-depth analyses of companies such as Nike, Adidas, and Puma. I explored their sustainability strategies, focusing on areas like material sourcing, manufacturing practices, and efforts to reduce environmental impact. The guidance from my mentor was invaluable in helping me develop a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between business practices and sustainability in the sports industry.

In July 2023, I attended a three-week summer school at Columbia University, focusing on "Innovation Through Venture Capital." This experience was transformative for me, both academically and personally. The program offered an intensive look into the venture creation process, from ideation to execution, and I had the opportunity to develop a website as part of my project on emergency underground water storage. I took the lead on designing the entire website, ensuring it effectively communicated our venture’s goals and market positioning. My role extended to conducting a SWOT analysis, market sizing, and creating a customer journey map, which helped our team develop a strong strategy. My efforts placed me within the top 2% of my peers, as noted in my Letter of Recommendation, which reinforced my passion for entrepreneurship and innovation.Beyond academics, my time in New York City was just as enriching. The city's vibrant culture, fast-paced subways, and diverse activities offered an unforgettable backdrop to my summer. I explored different parts of the city, from downtown to the Upper West Side, immersing myself in its dynamic energy. The friendships I made were equally invaluable—I connected with peers from Las Vegas, Beijing, Sydney, downtown New York, Germany, and Madrid. Together, we shared our diverse perspectives and experiences, forming bonds that have continued beyond the program. A completely student led initiative, Scout Me empowers athletes across the country. Roto Pumps is a leading manufacturer of progressive cavity pumps (PCPs) and twin-screw pumps, providing efficient solutions for handling fluids in various industries. Their expertise in pump technology extends across sectors like oil and gas, wastewater treatment, and chemical processing.In late December 2022, I interned as a finance intern at Roto Pumps, gaining firsthand experience with their operations. My first day was exciting, as I learned about cavity pumps and the complex process involved in their production. Observing different machines like the CNC, SPM, and lathe machines, I saw how critical each was in manufacturing the various pump components. I also toured sections like raw materials, deburring, and hydro testing, which highlighted the importance of a well-organized production system.Throughout my internship, I learned about specific machine operations, such as the VDF-600 for profile cutting and the HMC for boring and drilling. I explored fabrication processes, understanding the intricacies of welding methods like GTAW and MIG. I also delved into stator production in the rubber shop and the process of casting components. My experience assembling a complete progressive cavity pump allowed me to connect theoretical knowledge with practical skills, making the entire internship both insightful and hands-on.
