With a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Commercial Law, Advocate Siduduzo Gumede retains over 25 years of experience as a lawyer, acquired in Civil Society, Corporate organisations, in private practice as Counsel at the Johannesburg Bar and in National and Local Government. Well-versed in managing complex high-level litigation, S’du has represented numerous corporate and government clients as Counsel – with extensive experience inside the legal departments of bp Southern Africa (over 7 years), Old Mutual and the Financial Services Board (over 4 years).At bp, S’du provided critical legal advice to the Retail and Commercial Business Units. With Old Mutual, he was first in the Law Division, where he designed life assurance products with the Actuarial Department. Later with Broker Legal Services in Durban, he taught and advised insurance brokers on the Law of Insurance, Business Assurance, Retirement Planning, Deferred and Preferred Compensation, Buy and Sell Agreements, Trust Law, Estate Duty and Planning, Donations, Capital Gains and Income Tax.Having also been in private practice consulting for more than 13 years, S’du possesses the commercial and constitutional litigation expertise to balance the national needs of civil and corporate South Africa.
