This includes redesigning and creating a new architecture for the services provided to external parties (e.g. Dutch govt, Dutch police, registered garages for mandatory yearly car checkups) as well as internal services and tools.As part of this contract I/we also work in different teams, rebuilding the current code base of that team one service at a time and thus gaining valuable insights on how RDW wants to reshape their software development and process.The final architecture of the new software base is not yet completed while we do POCs on how well different solutions would work and scale.When decided on the final architecture and implemented/developed, we'll support and coach current software developers in getting started as fast as possible using the new framework.

Fully REST-based, the backend layer unlocks the modules that comprise the Magister system, including e-learning, study guides, grading system, personnel and student management.The back-end functionality for Magister is build using C#/.Net and uses methods and techniques like REST, MVC, AutoMapper and DI using Microsoft Unity. The IT landscape is changing at this customer because of splitting up responsibilities of the current (web) application into several external applications. The interconnection between these systems consisted of a newly build Windows Service (aptly named SIS) comprised of separate modular plugins. Due to this design the service is easy to extend with new functionality, or existing functionality can be replaced fast (e.g. in case of bugs solved, or newly added functions to existing plugins). The SIS module also allowed separate plugins to discover and talk to other loaded plugins; this caters for general functionality (such as logging) to be written/build once and made available to all plugins.The batch of plugins developed during the course of this project where aimed at ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) to allow disparate external systems to exchange information where that would be impossible or difficult in most cases. The SIS allows for this functionality to be executed on demand, on specific time intervals, or event triggered.The project is using C#/.Net for both the Windows Service and the plugins. By using .Net, plugins are not limited to C#, but any .Net language could be used to write (new) plugins).

Customer has an existing application for registering customer and financial data, but wishes to move part of the current functionality (particularly billing) into a external cloud-based application. The existing application could not be modified, and the data models between the legacy application and the cloud solution (third party supplier) were vastly different.The solution build was a couple of WCF services with which both applications would communicate (directly, or indirectly), pushing data changes as necessary. The WCF services would transform the supplied data into a format readable by the other application and push the data onward.Data changes are pushed either in real-time, or in a time-interval based setting.The project was written using C# and .Net, communicated with the cloud application using Web Services, or talked to a SQL Server database to keep in touch with the legacy application.
