I have seven years of professional experience working in the ecology and conservation sectors and hold a Level 2 Natural England class licence for bats and a Level 1 Natural England licence for GCN. I am a member of CIEEM and currently hold Qualifying accreditation.Competent in a range of survey methods and field skills including:- Habitat Surveys and botanical identification skills (UKHab & Phase 1 Habitat survey)- GCN: presence/likely absence surveys and eDNA surveys- Bats: Dusk emergence/dawn re-entry surveys using thermal imaging technology and acoustic bat detectors to identify bat roosts, roost assessments, mitigation and compensation design and licence applications- Badgers: identifying field signs, territory mapping using bait-marking surveys- Reptile presence/likely absence surveys- Otter and water vole presence/likely absence surveys- Site supervision works under licence for bats, badgers and great-crested newtsI have extensive voluntary bat work experience including use of harp traps and mist-nets as part of the National Bat Monitoring Programme NBMP, use of acoustic lures, handling and processing bats, species-level identification, hibernation surveys by torchlight and using endoscopy. In addition to my field survey skills I am also experienced in the following office-based skills:- Technical report-writing, preliminary ecological appraisal, protected species survey reporting, ecological impact assessment - Biodiversity Impact Assessment and use of Defra's Biodiversity Metric to inform Biodiversity Net Gain calculations- Writing site-specific mitigation strategies for a range of protected species including artificial lighting mitigation for bats- Application for site-specific protected species mitigation licences for bats and great-crested newts- Bat-call analysis using both full spectrum and zero-crossing data- Use of specialist GIS software for accurate mapping- Use of large-scale datasets to inform impact assessments for protected species and habitats
