Architected, developed, deployed and administered a distributed build and infrastructure that has been crucial to the company's ability to produce releases for years now. The system runs many thousands of cpu-hours of builds every day. Its largest components are written in Java but there are many shell and python scripts, a couple domain specific languages, some platform-specific executables written in C and batch files involved. The reporting system is mostly java servlets and provides a carefully tuned interface to monitor and understand the thousands of daily results.I worked on an R&D team that explored various .NET and mobile library ideas.I introduced the company to Scrum, leading the first group in the company to adopt the methodology. This yielded a lot of valuable experience for everyone involved. It was successful and the practice quickly spread and I understand it is still in use today.I led a team that developed an implementation of both the Java and C++ SDO (service data object) specifications. Using JNI, NIO and our in-house C++ expertise, the implementation shared memory between Java and C++ libraries, allowing developers a clean and very efficient interface to call between the two languages in-process.
