Social justice advocate in the Bronx, New York City. I earned my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Georgia State University before pursuing my Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Social Work. I concentrated on contemporary social issues, specifically in mental health, criminal justice and women’s issues. My studies at Columbia University’s School of Social Work gave me the opportunity to intern at The Bronx Defenders which further ignited her passion in forensic mental health.In ten years as forensic social worker, I have trained and worked in collaboration with legalteams and forensic clinicians, within the federal and state sectors. I have provided trauma andmitigation assessments, written reports, clinical support and immigration evaluations on a rangeof civil and criminal cases including capital, Miller and competency cases. I have conductedtrainings and workshops on topics related to practice – specific social work and legalcollaborations including trauma informed interviewing, cultural competency, the effects of racialtrauma, and de-escalation skills.I have worked for The Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Practice in their Bronx andManhattan offices and the Bronx Legal Services Family and Immigration Unit. Currently, I am a Senior Associate and Intake Clinician at Lorio Forensics, a multidisciplinary forensic mentalhealth consulting firm.
