My career mission is to improve social and environmental conditions at local and global levels in scientifically rigorous and socially perceptive ways––solutions that equitably improve quality of life and promote long-term health of the population and the ecosystems we depend on. I see my time in graduate school earning a PhD in Management Science & Engineering as an opportunity to learn how to manage the clean energy transition, to apply relevant data science methods in the field, and to become an excellent communicator and advocate for effective system changes. I am currently analyzing large text data on corporate climate commitments and follow-through, in order to understand how to improve corporate accountability and drive systemic change.As you may deduce from my work history (a streak of research fellowships), I enjoy acquiring, processing and analyzing raw data; I like developing automated systems to assist with data analysis; and I feel accomplished when I get to deduce and present actionable insights that influence organizational directions and outcomes. Prior to graduate school, my research and code development with the Netherlands Institute for Space Research led to the discovery of several large methane leaks from landfills, which made it into our publication with Science Advances. With ReNew Power in India, my market research on the electric vehicle market informed the strategy team and CEO's decision to briefly pilot a solar-powered charging program. In Iceland, I collated scientific peer-reviewed sources on glacial outburst floods to brief a diplomat before an international conference on the topic. I have loved being part of organizations like the Post-Landfill Action Network that are comprised of eclectic, highly-motivated, mission-driven people who know how to build community around shared goals and visions of a better future.Beyond individual work, I enjoy mentoring students, working with my research assistant, receiving advice from my advisor and experienced colleagues, and teaching (as a TA) the data science and economic policy analysis courses I've taken. In my spare time outside academia, I enjoy making things like clothing and board games, playing music, organizing potlucks, and being active outdoors.
