Replace Tommy with Anil and vital with vaguely important and you have me, but that's the way I prefer it. Hired under the mysterious moniker of Media Accountant, my initial duties focused on the financial on-boarding of a new client. The client required us to use our accounting and media software in such great depth that we had never considered due to the high volume of their media requests. I spent most of my first few weeks reading the software instruction manual. The bottom drawer in my desk still contains a quarter of the remaining Amazon forest. (I would later help out with our recycling program out of pure guilt.)After pleading to never be an accountant again, I have been tasked with building out the operational portion of the agency, primarily by leading the on-boarding of media systems. Ad servers, tag managers, media buying platforms, digital click path tracking, attribution, site analytics; you name it and I have ventured into the unknown with a vague understanding of how to do something and done it incorrectly. This includes creating the processes on a client by client basis and documenting them in such a way that people don't make fun of my flowcharts. You know, marketing technology, MarTech, or whatever you would like to call it. I made sure to mention that because keywords are crucial.They then let me make up a title to encompass all that I could do. Now I get involved with anything to do with people, process, and technology. Even when it's not broken, we fix it.I wear black jeans and a black t-shirt to work everyday because that somehow shows my individuality. One month I grew out a mustache just to see if anyone would say anything. If you are wondering, my closet does look like that of a cartoon character. -
