Implemented an adaptive limit protection module for prevention of main rotor stall on a UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter. Evaluated the system in manned simulation, at the Georgia Tech Carefree Maneuver Lab, within the Real-Time Interactive Prototype Technology Integration Development Environment (RIPTIDE) developed at the Army/NASA Rotorcraft Center. (May 2004)Implemented an adaptive neural network based limit detection and avoidance module for envelope protection on an autonomous Yamaha R-Max unmanned helicopter test bed (GTMax). The system was evaluated using flight evaluations within the Open Control Platform (OCP) developed by Boeing Phantom Works for DARPA Software Enabled Control (SEC) program. (May 2003)Implemented and evaluated “Adaptive limit detection and avoidance” algorithm on XV-15 simulation software. Also, compared the adaptive algorithms against previously developed static neural network based limit detection and avoidance algorithm (May 2002).

Compared efficiency of various existing approximations for aircraft modes and showed that the approximations are not satisfactory especially when used to predict onset of instability.Developed a new literal approximation to aircraft dynamic modes which resulted in better approximations for slow modes.Derived a new condition for the onset of directional departure related to the dutch-roll frequency.Evaluated the newly derived literal approximation for aircraft modes against the existing approximations and the true values of modes.
