About Stef Aerts
Within my "day job" as a lecturer at Odisee University College, I combine the following activities:- teaching Experimental Animal Science, and (animal and agricultural) Ethics to Bachelor students- research on those topics, and aquaculture- member of the Ethical Committee on Animal Experiments- project management on institutional change & institution-wide curriculum design I also hold a guest professorship at Ghent University, teaching animal and veterinary ethics at the veterinary faculty.Connected to those activities, I hold multiple committee memberships within Odisee, the KU Leuven Association, and beyond. These include the presidency of the Flemish Animal Science Council (Proefdierencommissie), membership of several institutional animal science committees, organisational ethics councils, and I am a founding member of the UGent Institute for Veterinary Law and Ethics.Starting October 2024, I'll be teaching professional and engineering ethics at KU Leuven - Ghent.

Visiting Professor Of Engineering Ethics
This is a parttime position within the Faculty of Engineering Technology, teaching engineering and business ethics to master students.
Visiting Professor Of Veterinary Ethics
This position is embedded in the Ethology and Animal Welfare Research Group of the Veterinary Faculty of Ghent University. The primary objective is educational: animal and veterinary ethics will be embedded in mandatory courses for all first, third, and fifth year students. A secondary, although important, goal is to increase the visibility of ethics as a day-one competence within the faculty as a whole.
