From 1992-1999 the company specialized in out-sourced development tasks and professional services for European corporations - mostly in the CD-ROM and information retrieval space. Projects included the Norwegian Lovadata legal database, the German yellow pages CD for DeTeMedien, the Austrian white pages telephone directory for Herold, the laser-engraver control application for Trotec, the ArtGuide museum guide, and various other smaller projects.In 1999 Altova began offering XML developer tools with the introduction of its XMLSpy product, and starting in 2000 the company completely focused its efforts on creating outstanding software developer tools. From June 2000 to October 2000 my business partners and I completely re-engineered our company to turn Altova from a professional services firm into a software product company focused on creating the best software development and data integration tools.
