Designing and building the electronic systems for the Formula SAE car based on a CAN BUS network with several STM32 used in conjunction for systems control, data logging and live telemetry

• Engineered a custom Linux image for the AM3358 microprocessor utilizing Yocto, ported U-Boot, and customized the device tree to meet specific PCB design requirements.• Conducted comprehensive debugging and revisions of the existing PCB to ensure signal integrity for MMC and Ethernet, ensuring compliance with specified parameters.• Optimized the PCB design by integrating new sensors via I2C, reducing the overall footprint with a smaller buck converter, and incorporating Ethernet magnetics to facilitate a more compact RJ45 connector.

• Configured an Embedded Linux distribution using Buildroot to create an ISO image shipped with the existing Python codebase for the RaspberryPi in order to streamline the initial programming of the RaspberryPi.• Migrated the existing control PCB to KiCad in order to have a design that will be compatible with SMD high-scale production.• Developed a CAN Bus driver for the RaspberryPi, by using an external CAN controller communicated via SPI, to gather data from the motor controller using the CAN Bus protocol.

• Developed a system to track the electrical behavior of the product during expected normal user operation and logging voltage, current, and temperature on a SD card for data analysis.• Created software to analyze data gathered from system to track potential problems with the electrical system.• Created and updated documentation for the software and electrical schematics of the product for easier reference and keepingtrack of changes.• Developed new software for the product focused on speed and performance by using C with the ESP-IDF framework incombination of FreeRTOS.

As it was the beginning of a new department of robotics within Corelink my duties were as followed:-Meet with Corelink administrative to create a plan of what their desired robot will be.-Plan out how the robot will perform its task with a big emphasis on cost reduction.-Research technologies, like mapping out temperatures in a server room with the robot.-Create a plan of action for the engineering team with a focus on its electrical components.
