Research shows that re-offending is not reduced simply by incarcerating offenders or increasing the harshness of their sentences. Well-designed and delivered rehabilitation programs can have a real effect on re-offending.I work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver therapeutic programs that are designed to help offenders understand the factors that led to their offending. The goals of these programs are to assist offenders to take responsibility for their actions, increase their motivation to change their thinking and behavior.Programs are delivered face-to-face in small groups, but can also involve working one-on-one with offenders. This requires planning, preparing and delivering a variety of programs as well as monitoring the participants’ progress to make sure they are getting the most out of their sessions.
