Currently, I am working at ApexRMS as a Data Scientist to:1) Develop a web application version of an ecological forecasting software SyncroSim.2) Use anonymized mobile cell data to better manage urban green spaces.3) Create an image classifier to quantify alpine snowpack from high resolution aerial imagery.

Designed and built an analysis framework to quantify the frequency of greenspace use by the public through anonymized mobile phone data (Mapbox). Examined the correlation of movement data on the biodiversity of urban greenspaces from two-decades of survey data.Created an end-to-end automated modelling pipeline that downloaded millions of occurrence records from a public API and fits over 100,000 models of different species in parallel on a supercomputer using R and Python.Developed a quality assurance and quality control methodology to verify millions of community science data records as research grade quality. Currently developing a machine learning methodology to examine these records.

Forecasted the impacts of climate change and extreme climate events on lake iceuntil the end of the century, including the financial impacts for local economics.Created a database of water quality for over 21,000 lakes worldwide

Led a team that synthesized biodiversity patterns on grazed lands globally by reviewing and extracting data from thousands of journal articles. Conducted a meta-analysis quantifying the biodiversity effects of domestic grazing.Created an image classifier that estimates snowpack in alpine grasslands from aerial imagery based on RGB ratios.

Built packages in R to quantify metrics of plant interactions for monitoring terrestrial biodiversity in the Mojave Desert, California.Partnered with the United States government (Bureau of Land Management) and non-profit organizations (e.g., The Nature Conservancy) to transformresearch objectives into practice.Used linear mixed models and machine learning models to estimate the impacts of extreme climate and spatial gradients on biodiversity.
