A Somapla é produtora de compostos de PVC para diversas aplicações como isolamento de cabos elétricos, de telecomunicação e cabos automóvel, revestimento de redes de jardim, injeção de peças, calçado, mangueiras, etc.; a Somapla produz ainda perfis rígidos para a construção civil. Participated in the european project: “Development of New Materials and Processes to Enhance Specialty Gas Separations” (SpecSep – Growth 2001), as an investigation scholarship at the Faculty of Engineering, Oporto University. Work consisted on the test and characterization of nanoporous carbon membranes, intended to recovery of anesthetic gases.

Internship at paint producer "CIN S.A., Corporação Industrial do Norte", regarding the curricular Investigation Project of Chemical Engineering degree, named "Measurement of wet and dry paint film thickness". Work consisted on adjusting a laser equipment to determine the thickness of wet paint films, with very high accuracy, hence allowing a precise.
