In this 10 week internship, I worked with a segmented one-sided DLC coated GEM in a triple-GEM system to study the influence of the sectors orientation on optical signal distortion to compare the results with other sectorization patterns in non-DLC based GEMs. I also studied the emission profile of a single-hole GEM in a double and triple-GEM system. In the meantime I simulated the electric field along the holes of the DLC GEM using the software ANSYS. This work was supervised by Florian Brunbauer, Eraldo Oliveri, Leszek Ropelewski and Fabio Sauli.
