After more than ten years as a public affairs officer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, I have embarked on a new career journey - clinical mental health counseling. As passionate as I am about telling the story of America's wildlife, I have become even more passionate about helping her people. Recent personal challenges brought about a deep appreciation for the life changing work of compassionate counselors and I have spent the past year and a half pursuing a second masters degree in hopes of empowering others to heal.As I finish my graduate course work in Walden's CACREP accredited mental health counseling program, I am looking forward to beginning my field experience this summer. I believe strongly in the power of the therapeutic bond and believe my strong communication skills, empathetic nature, and motivation to collaborate with others will serve me well as I take this next step. I am working on updating my resume now to reflect my search for a supervision site. If you know of any therapist in the Portland-Metro area that might be willing to take on a supervisee, please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
