I have experience in myriad forms of customer service; my concentration for the past 22 years has been in public safety communications. I have experience in 911 and non-emergency call receiving, dispatching for law enforcement, fire service, and EMS, one-on-one training, classroom training, and first line supervision. I have experience as a former steward and Guild President for SEWTG (Southeast Washington Telecommunicator's Guild). As an active member of the guild I participated in several contract negotiations with the City of Richland, I updated and created new By-laws, I created a charity committee, and was part of the ongoing business of the guild for 17 years, meeting with management, filing and overseeing grievances, and performing other duties as necessary.I have been involved in training one-on-one, in small groups, and large classroom environments, using Problem-Based Learning in several subject matters. I am currently an instructor for the WA Statewide E911 Coordination Office, teaching Basic Call Taking, Basic Law and Fire Dispatch, Communications Training Officer,Public Safety Communications Supervisor, and Instructor Development. I continue to provide input with the cadre of state instructors on curriculum, including updating, adding, and evaluating what is taught in each course offering. I have also participated in helping build an ANSI standard in cooperation with APCO and CJTC for Classroom Instructor. In addition I have created a large number of agency based training materials for both new trainees and for continuing education.
