geneforum.org was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on educating and informing citizens about advances in genetics. It was founded in 1998 by the late Dr. Gregory Fowler, Alex Fowler, and Dr. Michael Garland in Oregon, and in 2008 it became a nonprofit affiliate of Portland State University. geneforum.org was supported by grants from Rose Tucker Charitable Trust, Collins Medical Trust, DOE, and Pew Center for Civic Journalism. The organization was best known for its work on public engagement in Oregon leading up to passage of the country's first genetic privacy law in 1995.
