I updated my Linkedin account in my 11 AM American Politics course on my laptop while taking notes in my notebook, checking emails on my phone, writing a list of things to do later in the afternoon in my planner, and making a mental note to call my mom back after class. It was at this moment that I realized I might be going into the wrong career path (add "schedule appointment to switch majors" to the list).Throughout my entire high school career and slightly prior, I had the mindset that I was going to graduate college with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. But the only thing that appealed to me about broadcasting was being in front of the camera and feeling important. I have grown to realize that I would much rather be than feel important and a degree in Public Relations and Communications will do just that. As someone interested in the PR field, I enjoy the idea of being the one responsible for ensuring something or someone's success. I'm attracted to the idea of a career centered around building and maintaining positive relationships. I love crossing things off my "To Do" list and am genuinely eager to tackle the curve balls life throws my way. Through challenging internships, I hope to build the necessary strengths that will allow me to obtain a career as a company's Media Liason or Corporate Spokesperson.
