Afrikiia Robertson Email and Phone Number
I am a social studies teacher, with 4 years experience teaching secondary social studies. I have a strong track record of supporting students in achieving their learning goals and performing to meet high academic standards. I am currently serving as the 8th Grade social studies teacher and social studies department content lead at The Historic Cherry Hill Elementary Middle School (CHEMS). In this role, I lead a team of two social studies teachers providing professional, planning and instructional support. In my instructional role at CHEMS I develop curriculum materials, lesson plans and instructional strategies that help students meet their highest potential. During my time in this role, I have provided instruction and support that has helped students grow their skills and content knowledge which is reflected in the exponential growth in student assessment data. Outside of the classroom, I serve as the CHEMS equity fellow ensuring that our practices and policies support and reflect the students we serve. Additionally, in partnership with Baltimore City Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Division I have piloted a learn to swim program to support students at CHEMS with learning about water safety.Specialties: Curriculum Development, Lesson Planning, Leadership, Culturally Responsive Teaching
