Dr. Afshin Torabi, hailing from a musical upbringing, is a Persian-origin guitarist who received his inaugural classical guitar at the tender age of 10, a gift from his father, Naser Torabi, who also served as Afshin's initial mentor. Concurrently with his instrumental tutelage, Afshin delved into music theory and contextual harmonic studies. His educational journey took him to various prestigious institutions, commencing at the "Gnessin Music College" in Moscow. Here, under the guidance of renowned Russian guitarists Alexander Vinitsky and Nikita Koshkin, he honed his craft. His pursuit of excellence led him to the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, where Rémi Boucher enriched his musical prowess, and subsequently to Laval University, where he successfully attained both a master's and a doctorate in interpretation. Throughout this scholarly endeavor, he benefited from the tutelage of Richard Paré, Rémi Boucher, and Michel Cardin. Notably, Afshin accomplished his postdoctoral studies at the University of Moncton, mentored by Michel Cardin, and further expanded his horizons as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Toronto, collaborating with Jeffrey McFadden.In the year 2022, Afshin embarked upon his second postdoctoral journey at UQAM University in Montreal, Canada, working closely with Dr. Isabell Héroux. A commendable project underscores this endeavor, as Afshin endeavors to craft a didactic tool rooted in the principles elucidated by "Van der Maren" (1995), aimed at facilitating the instruction of baroque music to contemporary guitarists.Afshin Torabi's artistic talents have graced numerous international stages, captivating audiences in London, Quebec, Montreal, Moscow, and Istanbul, alongside numerous other cities within Iran. His participation in renowned events such as the Fajr Festival in Tehran, Iran, the Istanbul International Festival, and the World International Guitar Festival in Canada attests to his global recognition. Distinguished venues like the BBC in London have also witnessed Afshin's captivating performances.Academic institutions have benefited from Afshin's expertise, as he has shared his knowledge through lectures at esteemed universities including Tehran University, Montreal University, Laval University, and Toronto University.
