The program provides technical assistance to country governments in six countries, seven states, and four nodal ministries in India. Collaborate with sixteen partner institutions to help achieve energy and climate targets.1. Recruited to implement USAID's flagship program. Led two verticals within SAREP: Utility Modernization (Distribution and Transmission) and Advanced Technology Deployment (RE, EE, EV, Hydrogen, and Storage).2. Designed program interventions, built a team of over 40 staff, and established strong relationships with government institutions. Directly managed sixteen staff, oversaw seven technical workstreams, ten subcontractors, and supervised twelve short-term consultants.3. Supported Indian Railways, NTPC, EESL, MNRE, MoP, CEA, CERC, Grid India, PFC, Discoms, EESL and governments of South Asian countries in achieving or contributing to their clean energy targets. 4. Met program goal indicators in three years including the deployment of 5 GW of renewable energy capacity and building a financial credit line of $5 billion from the private sector.5. Designed policy and regulatory frameworks that support large scale deployment of renewables. Assisted FOR, CERC, SERC, and Bhutan Regulatory Authority in the development of nine enabling regulations on Demand Response, Resource Adequacy, Supply Code, Green Open Access, and Storage.Utility Modernization : Conceptualized creation of five smart distribution cities in India ; Implemented a behavior demand response program that successful engaged 100,000 utility customers and 500 MW of demand reduction. Supported the Government of Bhutan in developing their Smart Grid master plan and undertook cost-benefit analysis for national-level smart meter implementation. Advance Technology Deployment : Devised a comprehensive plan for the Indian Railways to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.

PACE-D 2.0 RE advances USAID works to supports India’s commitment and capacity to plan, finance, and implement renewable energy solutions that produce locally-sustained results. Sumedh oversees the program and manages the execution of three components: Strategic Energy Planning, Scaling Grid-Connected Distributed PV, and System friendly RE procurement.Specifically, Sumedh leads efforts for - Developing a Resource Planning software tool for efficient resource planning consisting of three modules, namely: demand forecasting, generation planning, and least-cost power procurement.- Prepare resource plans for two states ( and electric distribution utilities) for the long term and medium term with DER, EV, Storage, DSM drivers.-Develop comprehensive resource planning guidelines and modernize the regulatory framework for resource planning.- Capacity building of the utility professionals, regulators, state departments to modify and develop resource plans themselves after the PACE-D 2.0 RE programHis work help strengthen 44 national, state, and private sector institutions and shared renewable energy best practices and opportunities with 300 energy professionals to increase RE uptake in India

Sumedh joined as a Consultant and went through a rigorous consulting boot-camp followed by experience of working closely with senior Partners on live client engagements in IT and system integration domain. The role involved working as business analyst and helping partners and clients in development of use cases, test cases, business requirement documentation (including scenario design, flow mapping) and develop tool operating manuals. Experience with Deloitte helped Sumedh later in his career as it gave a fair understanding of how IT systems are designed, developed and configured.

MBA curriculum offered me an opportunity to intern in area of Strategy and Application Development team of Oracle Financial Services ( then i-flex solutions). During this stint he presented proposal for market entry in Central Asia for i-flex flagship product Flexcube. His efforts and plan received several accolades from leadership and culminated into pre-placement offer (PPO) by organization.

Sumedh joined Tata Power -DDL after completing his bachelor’s in electrical engineering. He underwent an initial intensive training provided by the utility on power distribution management (12 weeks at NPTI, Faridabad) and scored highest marks in the final examination. He was among the group of initial engineering managers brought on to implement privatization reforms and utility turnaround. Sumedh pioneered the design and implementation of advanced metering systems and led a team of more than 30 utility engineers and technicians to deploy the technologies that reduced losses by more than half in target areas. He was recognized by TPDDL leadership for the same and was awarded “Star Performer Best Engineer Trainee” for the year 2004-2005.
