CurrentGeneration Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks at the European level on climate and environmental issues. GCE brings together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe. GCE Member Networks are: AEGEE Europe, Young European Federalists (JEF) Europe, International Young Naturefriends (IYNF), Erasmus Student Network (ESN), European Students' Union (ESU), OBESSU and Fimcap. ---In January 2021, I transitioned into the role of Director, overseeing the formal registration of Generation Climate Europe (GCE) as a legal entity and managing its daily operations. This period marked a significant phase of growth for GCE, as I led efforts in refining our strategy, strengthening our partnerships, and scaling up our operations.In March 2022, following an organisational restructuring, my title was updated to President. While the title changed, my core responsibilities and leadership remained the same. I continued to lead the organisation’s strategy, partnerships, and operational growth, and remained the central figure driving GCE’s mission and impact.My responsibilities include:- Organisational and network development- Policy development and strategic influence, contributing to the development of GCE’s policy positions on climate and environmental issues and influencing EU-level policies- Day-to-day management of the organisation (200< volunteers)- Development and implementation of the strategic plan together with the Board- External representation and partnerships, including representing GCE in high-level discussions and strengthening partnerships with EU institutions- Financial oversight and resource mobilisation, including fundraising- Governance and legal compliance, overseeing adherence to legal statutes and ensuring the organisation's governance structures are effective and efficient
Early Foundational Leader & Co-Creator Of Generation Climate Europe
In October 2019, I joined Alex and Nathan in the initial stages of an idea that has become Generation Climate Europe (GCE). As a key builder of the organisation, I played a critical role in developing the strategy, establishing initial partnerships, and creating GCE’s digital and organisational presence.After Nathan and Alex departed in 2020, I stepped into the role of Director in January 2021, overseeing GCE’s formal registration as a legal entity and its ongoing operations. The process of GCE's legal registration as an AISBL took two years, given the Covid-19 pandemic and the Belgian administration.
