About Agatha A. Appleton-Sas

CURRENTLY ON A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA INCLUDING LINKEDIN (STARTING APRIL 2023)Digital Inclusion | Social Impact | Entrepreneurship | International Development | Creative StrategyWith over 14 years of experience delivering innovative and impactful content across online and offline channels, I have a proven track record of connecting with stakeholders through high-quality interactive content and campaigns, and developing innovative strategies. My recent work includes economically empowering women entrepreneurs through digital inclusion programmes, developing communications and creative strategies for UN agencies (UN Women and the International Trade Centre), and the private sector, as well as building regional partnerships. For UN Women I have designed and managed regional communications and digital inclusion initiatives, partnering with organisations like Ant Foundation ('Together Digital' Programme) and LinkedIn ('LinkWomen' Programme). Through these partnerships, I have facilitated the cultivation of digital, soft, and employability skills for women, and facilitated access to digital skills, markets and finance for women entrepreneurs in the Asia-Pacific region. Previously I worked at The International Trade Centre (ITC) - a UN and WTO joint agency. In 2020 I've developed and delivered a digital upskilling programme for SheTrades in the Commonwealth, called 'Effectively Pivot to Digital', to women-owned businesses and business support organisations (BSOs) from Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. In 2022 I've been additionally running an 'Online Presence and Digital Communication' programme under the SheTrades Accelerator initiative for women-owned businesses and BSOs in Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Senegal, and South Africa. These initiatives have built the digital and creative capacity of over 2,200 women entrepreneurs and contributed to profits exceeding $6 million.I have also co-founded RÅN studio - a creative and digital consultancy studio, specialising in online thinking and digital communication. I'm always interested in new ways to communicate digitally and creatively while also particularly looking out for projects that create social good. Let's make a positive difference together.
