Responsible for continuous programmatic supervision of Internews Europe's activities and projects.

Responsible for continuous programmatic, financial and funding supervision of media development projects in Asia (two in Sri Lanka, one in India, and one in Mongolia and China): -International coordination and supervision of the programmatic implementation and technical development of two economic information services for micro entrepreneurs in India and Nepal, and herders in Mongolia (MN & IMAR CN). The services run accross all media types (radio, TV, print, mobile phones). -Supervision and support in the development of large media development projects in Sri Lanka (activities include radio training, safety and secure communications training, citizen journalism training, radio and TV production, media monitoring, publication and national distribution of 2 newspapers, online publications and blogging, media houses for journalists)

The Earth Journalism Awards honors those in the media (professional journalists and citizen journalists/bloggers) who use their communication skills and influence to promote awareness of and provide new insight into climate change issues – whether it be in their region or in relation to certain key themes – through the production of powerful and eye-opening news and current affairs reports. Seven regional awards were given out, along with seven thematic awards. In addition, the winning stories were posted on the Internet so that the public could vote on the best story of all, which was then deemed the winner of a special Global Public Award. 423 reports were received from 94 countries from journalists, bloggers and creative youth of all media. received from 108 countries from journalists and bloggers of all media. 15 winners were selected through a 3-step evaluation, and invited to Copenhagen for 2 weeks in December to participate in a high profile event, meet climate change and media experts, and cover the climate talks. Design, development and management of an international journalism competition for the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as part of the Every Human Has Rights Campaign, supported by the Elders. 500 reports were received from 108 countries from journalists and bloggers of all media. 30 winners were selected through a 3-step evaluation, and invited to Paris for a week in December 2008 to participate in a high profile event, meet human rights and media experts, and cover the 60th anniversary of the UDHR in Paris. Speakers at the ceremony included Mary Robinson, Jimmy Carter, Stephane Hessel and M. Zimeray (French Ambassador to Human Rights).

Project director for “Developing the Media sector in Afghanistan”, an EC funded project jointly designed and implemented by I/EU and Nai: over 1500 media professionals trained by the project between Sep05 and Dec06, in-house training in the provinces, production of radio programs, radio network coordination, business development for stations, media watch (publication of a newsletter, legal support, advocacy), and mapping of the Internews radio stations.Supervision of I/EU other activities in Afghanistan: “Promoting Internet policy and regulatory reform in Afghanistan”, in partnership with the Afghan Computer Science Association, an internet policy advocacy project based in the Ministry of CommunicationsSupervision of Nai other projects implementation and reporting (trainings, building and upgrading of radio stations funded by Equal Access, UNDP, UNEP, USAID, and SIDA) as well as commercial activities (building of a studio for Sayara and advertising for Afghan Telecom)Developing, structuring, institutionalizing and mentoring Nai (within a year, Nai evolved from being a small 10 staffer local NGO to becoming the most recognized national media development NGO) Fundraising and proposal writing for Nai and I/EU (fundraised over USD1M from the EC, I-PACS, the UNDP, UNEP, USAID, SIDA, Free Voice, Equal Access and Afghan Telecom, leaving Nai with enough funds to run for the following 3 years)Initiated the set up of the first Afghan Independent Radio Association, and provided support to its building.

Managing all Internews Internet Policy Advocacy projects funded by the EC, as part of the Global Internet Policy Initiative (www.internetpolicy.net). GIPI was an initiative of Internews and the Center for Democracy and Technology, implemented in 17 countries, where lawyers were advocating for internet development and policy reform. Main projects managed: GIPI Indonesia (Aug02-Mar04, in partnership with the Indonesia Media Law and Policy Centre in ID & the Programme for Comparative Media Law and Policy in the UK), GIPI Vietnam (Aug02-Aug05, with the Institute of Information Technology in VN and the IMLPC in the UK), and GIPI Afghanistan (Dec04-Dec05, in partnership with ACSA in AF, and the Institute for Information Law in NL), funded by the Asia IT&C program of EuropeAid in ID, VN & AF, by USAID in ID & AF, & the FR MFA, the FR embassy & the US embassy in VN.
