My research interest is in trauma psychology and culture; focusing on trauma-related idioms of distress. Under the supervision of Dr. Ashraf Kagee, I am currently working on developing a screening tool (Khartoum Distress Scale) for trauma-related distress.In my quest I am using a mixed methods approach. I am studying the idioms of distress to create the tool, that will be piloted soon. Efficacy, validation, and reliability will then be studied. I am using Atlas.ti and IBM-SPSS for both phases, respectively. I stay up to date with new literature on trauma psychology and culture, and with the broader literature in the field.
