In her filmmaking career, Kaylene wrote, directed, & composed the score for her multi-award-winning film REDEMPTION, which won Best First-Time Director, Best Picture, & a Jury Award.Kaylene Peoples also founded Agenda Foundation, an accelerated film program for foster youth aging out of the system with job placement in the film industry. She later founded Bella Composers & curated the first international female composers’ competition, Artemis Women Powered Music for the Artemis Women In Action Film Festival. As a musician, she is an award-winning jazz & Bossa-nova artist, a member of the Grammy-nominated fusion band CAB (founded by Bunny Brunel), where she is a flutist/vocalist. Her CD, All Jazzed Up!, topped independent charts, & her second album, MY MAN (featuring Bunny Brunel, Hubert Laws, & Bobby Lyle), was on the Grammy ballot, winning the Akademia Award for Best Jazz Song in 2015 for her recording of "Giant Steps."
