The USGS of Pasadena is responsible for the analysis and monitoring of earthquake activity for all of Southern California. Utilizing both hardware and software implemented in the field and in local offices we attempt to understand more about earthquakes and keep the public aware and informed of their occurrences. - Created new features and modified existing ones within the ANSS Quake Monitoring System. This includes, but is not limited to: Linux scripts, Perl scripts, FORTRAN programs, C++ programs, and PHP web applications. - Acted as the main liaison for the Earthquake Early Warning project with various private company clients.- Developed and maintained the Earthquake Early Warning Scenario web application. This includes developing new features, fixing bugs, add/modifying user permissions and configurations, authoring diagrams and documentation, and configuring the Apache application web server.- Acted as the primary operating entity of the Shakemap system for the entire Southern California region. Some of the responsibilities include modifying configuration files, maintain the hardware and software, developing Linux and Perl scripts to assist in the project, and interfacing with the other regional networks.

COMPASS is a fully automated application used to support the deployment and redeployment of Active Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard units to and from their Ports of Embarkation. To support these missions, COMPASS is engineered to maintain crucial positional information, provide reports and data groups on demand for internal uses and external commands, and to generate various reports necessary for Army use. Duties:- The primary duty involved porting the COMPASS application from an older code base (Unify VISION) to a proper application standardized for current web browsers utilizing various COTS tools that adhere to FORSCOM regulations.- Create business requirement documents and diagrams to model development life cycle based on input from senior Army contacts as well as customers. - Streamline and fix unchecked bugs as part of the migration process for the sake of the clients in the field as well as at the base of operations. - Successfully switched database from Sybase to Oracle, which required much refactoring of the code base. OJB and Spring JDBC were utilized to assist the endeavor.- Performed DB Administrative duties (schema alterations, updates).- Managed Windows Server 2008 development network using Active Directory.- Provided guidance to less experienced members of the team, delegating certain tasks and taking more of a lead within the team.

- Provided level of control and tracking of code to be pushed into production, including performing the compilations and pushes into QA and UAT environments. Also expected to troubleshoot when needed to find and correct code bugs unanticipated by the developer(s).- Wrote sets of Perl scripts which utilized PGP encryption, FTP/SFTP, and dynamic Connect::Direct NDM(secure line) processes to send and receive files to different institutions.- Altered and bugfixed Oracle stored procedures

- Migrated a VB application and redesigned it as a Java server/client set of applications utilizing multi-threading to handle multiple instances of the client. Server app would keep track and display operational status of each client’s MySQL server. - Aided in the maintenance of a network of over 160 various workstations running Windows 98, Windows 2k, and at a more limited capacity, Windows XP and Linux. - Fixed bugs in pre-existing environmental data collection Java routines
