You might be intrigued to read on or maybe you'll take a break and listen to the song.🎵"Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life."🎵Working in roles across different sectors and industries developed my capability and confidence in areas that often feature in the 'Knowledge/Experience/Skills Required' section of job descriptions. My LinkedIn profile talks about my previous roles, here I want to share values that are important to me that can be lost in a CV or covering letter.💡 Careers squiggle. Since being introduced to Agile (with the capital A) several years ago, I've been inspired to bring together the agile mindset and practices with HR and L&D. My current squiggle sees me working towards being self-employed and starting my own business taking on the ups and downs this (ad)venture has to offer.❔ Ask questions. For example, what do we want to achieve? What's the best way to get there? What can we change to have more impact? Why do we keep Jaffa Cakes in a biscuit tin when they clearly need to be in a cake tin? One thing I try to remember, sometimes a pause is more useful than a question.🌅 Look forwards. Usually this means I'm moving on to the next task before completing the one I'm currently doing. For example, I was deciding who I could I ask to critique this 'About' before finishing the first draft. I use it as a strength to be enthusiastic, optimistic and get the job done. Sometimes, I need help to recognise a change that is needed in the present because I'm too busy looking ahead. 🧠 Keep learning. Whether it's podcasts, books, articles, forums or conversations, I get energy from learning something new. Spending time outside my comfort zone helps me learn despite finding it hard to not be good at something the minute I start to learn it.I'm a self-confessed intermittent LinkedIn user, and I still don't know with anyone reads with section. But I'm reading it again, now a few years on from first writing it, and a few updates later it's still true to who I am. Although I've let the Jaffa Cake storage argument go, for now.
