After about 1 year, I got a job as clerk at the Personnel Department where my main duties was employment administration, which meant receiving application documents, sending response and return letter, print employment documents such as employment contracts etc. Also other correspondence and printouts were common. A few years later, I started working with a Student Engineering-programme, which meant that newly graduated civil engineers were hired with a predetermined development and career plan. I participated in the application and the selection procedure and and also in the planning of their individual development and career plans. A very fun and educational period, which also meant that I was at the education fairs for some of the universities in Sweden. For about 1 year I held the position as Secretary of the Human Resources Director, which meant a lot of correspondence, telephone, travel and conference booking and planning. The main part of the correspondence took place in English as the corporate language was English due to that GM became partowner in SAAB (1990). After maternity leave, I returned to work as a Personnel Administrator and was also involved in a computer project to transfer personnel and payroll administration to PeopleSoft. Due to curiosity but also because cuts at SAAB had begun I started as Payroll clerk, which has given me a deeper but above all a broader understanding of personnel administration and the function between personnel / finance offices and payroll offices.
