About Fernando Leonel Aguirre

Fernando Aguirre (IEEE member) received his Electronic Engineering degree in 2016, and his Ph.D. in Engineering in 2021 from the National University of Technology (Argentina) under a grant from CONICET. He was visiting student at TU Ilmenau in 2014 under a German DAAD scholarship, and also at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2019-2020. He has been a teaching assistant (2013-2022) and interim adjunct professor (2018-2022) at the National University of Technology (Argentina). Dr. Aguirre is an expert on the fundamental physics behind different electronic devices and their use in analogue circuits, with special emphasis on memristor-based artificial neural networks. He has published >50 articles in top journals like Advanced Materials, Advanced Intelligent Systems, and IEEE Access, and has won three best paper awards from IEEE conferences (PRIME-LA 2017, IEEE-IRPS 2019, SBmicro 2019 and LAEDC 2022). He is a member of the editorial board of Microelectronic Engineering (Elsevier) and serves on the technical program committees of some IEEE conferences.
