Agustín Mayer West is FERRERE’s regional managing director as well as managing director of its Uruguay office. His position combines management of the firm, and shaping and executing its strategy, with personal attention to clients and their needs.In his over 20 years with the firm he has spearheaded and developed various practice areas and industries including Antitrust, Life Sciences, Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT), Entertainment, Advertising and Sports. He has specialized in and leads the Intellectual Property area.Mayer West Advises clients in diverse sectors of activity on strategic corporate issues, complex regulatory matters, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and distribution model changes, among others. Some of the clients he regularly counsels are: DIRECTV, Nestlé and other pharmaceutical sector companies.He is recognized in international rankings as one of the chief experts in his field. Chambers and Legal 500 position him in Band 1 in Intellectual Property. According to Chambers he is "an excellent lawyer” and is “renowned for the strength of his IP practice and has expertise in a broad range of issues.” Mayer West sits on the board of the Uruguay-United States Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of Council of the Americas. He is also an officer of the Latin American Forum of the International Bar Association as well as a member of its Intellectual Property Committee. He is a member of the International Trademark Association, the Inter-American Intellectual Property Organization, and is secretary of the Uruguayan group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). In his teaching activity he holds the chair in Intellectual Property in the degree program in Biotechnology at Universidad ORT (Uruguay), and is guest professor in Intellectual Property at Universidad de Montevideo (Uruguay).
