As one of the first members to be part of the club right after it was founded, I have been seen and contributed to the development of our current project, a solar-powered drone. Our goal is to develop a fixed-wing, autonomous and self-powered aircraft that can be used for several applications, such as, agriculture, defense & security, research & data collection, etc.With our continuously growing team, I lead a group of fellow students interested in the manufacturing side of the project. Every semester we make a new iteration of the drone, improving what didn't work on the previous version and getting closer to our final design.My job is to look over the CAD models and ensure they can be 3D printed, communicating any necessary modifications to the model. I have also been researching and experimenting with a fairly new material called PLA Aero, which we intend to implement on the Spring or Fall of 2024 version of the drone.
