The 'German Center for Integration and Migration Research' is a nationwide initiative to strengthen and increase the international visibility of the integration and migration research in Germany. It is financed by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth.During my time at the research institute, I worked at the project 'Post-Migrant Societies' in the department of 'Consent and Conflict', which - based on surveys in Germany - analyzes inter-group relations in the context of migration and integration.My tasks included:- assisting the scientific analysis and publication;- assisting the designing of the questionnaire;- preparation of the researched literature;- setting up a literature database.

The 'Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research' focuses interdisciplinarily on theory-driven and empirical research about integration and migration processes in Germany.During my time at the research center, I worked primarily in the department of 'Integration Research and Social Policy' for the project 'JUNITED' (Young Islam-related Topics in Germany), which explores empirically the patterns of reactions and attitudes in a pluralizing and heterogenizing society in respect to Islam and Muslims.As a co-author, I was involved in the creation of the following studies for three different federal states: - North Rhine-Westphalia Post-Migrant - the Population's Attitudes towards Muslims in Germany; - Baden-Wuerttemberg Post-Migrant - the Population's Attitudes towards Muslims in Germany; - East-Germany Post-Migrant - the Population's Attitudes towards Muslims in Germany. In each case, I was in charge of the following chapters: (1) Politics and Integration, (2) Muslims, (3) right-wing Populism and Extremism, (4) Salafism.My tasks included: - autonomously drafting the academic texts for the studies' chapters;- assisting the scientific analysis;- editing;- designing a literature database;- literature research.

The 'Kooperative Berlin' is an editorial office, media production firm, and studio for strategic consulting and develops projects for media houses as well as educational and cultural institutions. Some of its cooperation partners are, among others, 'Deutschlandradio' (a national German public radio broadcaster), the 'Federal Agency for Civic Education', and the 'Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship'.During my internship, I primarily worked on the project 'Web Debate', which is the 'Federal Agency for Civic Education's weblog/online debate portal. It addresses issues that are relevant in society by illustrating details, presenting different positions, and offering a place for discussions.I got to know all aspects of the project management and the editorial office - including: preparation, conducting as well as post-processing of interviews, editorial planning, research, and writing texts. In the process, I also worked with different journalistic (interviews, articles, blog as well as twitter posts) as well as media (video, audio, images) formats and was responsible for contacting experts.
