I started my professional career at University. That may sound a little strange but in the two years I studied at UCLAN I learnt so much about HTML and CSS that gave me the best footing I could ask for to enter into a career in web development.After joining BT Customerstreet in 2006 I first began building web sites from designs that were produced by a team of designers in the company. It was my job to turn those images into a web site based on a skeleton of files and folders which contained PHP.During my time at this role I learnt a lot about web technologies and the way things were changing (as CSS was fairly new at the time) by way of web standards and made it my priority to incorporate the best standards possible for the sites I was building.Whilst working in this role I became fascinated by the PHP side of the sites I was building and, having no knowledge of them decided I would start some private learning in the hope of being able to write PHP.It was due to this interest that I later got offered a development role for the same company, which would see me learning PHP in a development atmosphere surrounded by those that could teach me all I needed to know. Not only did I learn a lot of PHP, but I also managed to grasp XML, XSL(T), javascript and some ajax.I worked as a developer at BT Customerstreet for just over two years and mainly worked on a specific project during that time that has led me to having a sound knowledge in javascript and ajax, as well as plenty of experience working with PHP, MySQL, XML and XSL.My goals are simply to keep learning more and more as much as I can and to make the current project even better than it has already become.
