Non-tenure faculty position with a 3-fold role.1) An administrative role in establishing the new Ph.D. program in Biophysical Sciences (biophysics.uchicago.edu), especially concerning student recruitment and first year curriculum.2) A teaching role as the course director for an intense year long practical laboratory course.3) A research role, continuing my studies of the membrane biophysics of the plasma membrane, specifically in mast cell activation - the central event of the allergic response.

Gendyne sought to commercialize patents held by Cornell University in the field of nucleic acid encapsulation and delivery, both for laboratory science and for human introduction of RNAi therapies.

Thanks to the W.M. Keck foundation, I had an independent postdoc at Cornell. I worked primarily with Barbara Baird and David Holowka in Chemistry and with Gerald Feigenson in Molecular Biology. I also collaborated closely with Tobias Baumgart, a postdoc in the lab of Watt Webb in Applied and Engineering Physics.
