    Quality Inspector
    Jlr Oct 2018 - Nov 2020
    Fen End
As a Quality Inspector it was my responsibility to ensure any vehicle that passes through Quality Buy Off, under my inspection, is in fit condition for the customer. The vehicles we dealt with can range from L316 (Defender) to X590 (I-Pace) and can go out for Press Loans, JLR Experience, JLR Dealers, JLR Fleets, JLR Launches, Worldwide Motor Shows, Photoshoots and more. It was important that I capture any faults on Quality Buy Off, both visual and technical, to the best of my knowledge and ability. It ensured that any significant faults, dependant on the customer, can be fixed before reaching Buy Off or even fixed at Buy Off. Using Coruson, our data capture system, we verified the shipping condition of all vehicles dispatched from Event Vehicle Operations to adhere to the requirements of the receiving market or event. It also documents photographic evidence of core vehicle features immediately prior to shipping and informs us of the vehicle protection level required.Orchestrate Shop Floor Data Capture was our electronic job card system used in our workshop to inform us of which area’s and which processes are required for each specific vehicle. This would let me know on the Quality Buy Off area, which type of buy off is required. Other tasks required included checking wheel nut torques, testing the battery voltage and amp output, ensuring the tyre pressures are correct & wrapping the vehicle with transit protection when required.During my time as a Quality Inspector, I have had WCPA training both at Castle Bromwich & Fen End under a B Grade WCPA Auditor & a D Grade WCPA Lead Auditor to gain more of an understanding of any differences between Buy Off & WCPA. I definitely gained a lot from working alongside WCPA to learn more about their processes such as looking at Halo Points, using Greybook, Road test to listen out for any abnormalities with the vehicle (wind noise, squeeks & rattles etc)

    Tiap Auditor
    Jlr Jan 2018 - Aug 2018
    Castle Bromwich
As a TIAP auditor my duties were to ensure the dedicated audit route was completed per shift, to collate data and download it using the dedicated software and to raise non-conformance alerts following procedural requirements. Not only did I learn my assigned block’s routes, I also learnt the routes in other blocks when we may have been overstaffed, to improve my knowledge into TIAP further. Tool changes are a vital part of this role which is why it was also important for me to know about this process, which I had recently developed an understanding of. I was tasked with a training project for the team which was to create a simplified learning aid pack. It involved taking the routes description, dividing each fixing that needed checking and adding it to a page with a visual aid and annotation to show the trainee where the fixing was located, which wrench and socket to use and the engineering specifications which the torque readings should adhere to. Through doing this, I have proven to work on my own initiative and shown independence by having to liaise with Group Leaders & Supervisors from each different block.
  • Jlr
    Production Associate
    Jlr Sep 2017 - Dec 2017
    Castle Bromwich
This time around as a Production Associate, I worked on a CALIPRI measurement process for the tailgate, as well as collating data for the tailgate measurements. I was also hand starting grab handle brackets & fitting anti-pinch covers for the tailgate fitment process.
  • Jlr
    Product Coach
    Jlr Jul 2016 - Aug 2017
    Castle Bromwich
I learnt about BoM, GSPAS, WES writing & APT as a Product Coach to begin with. I started on the Sportbrake team working on ACV (Assembly Confirmation Vehicle) which is where I started learning about the parts and processes on the vehicle and sorting them into line order. Also having to confirm how the process worked, e.g; Process order, Steps of Process, Timing (APT), Sequence of build etc.Working from GSPAS, which holds the process on that system in a simple, basic manner, I then had to expand on each process step to explain in detail how to execute each process to the best of the operator’s ability. Then came the first production build phase HTFB (Hard Tool Functional Build) where I was tasked to train the operators on my assigned shift. As each next phase moved on, I had to ensure the training of the operators was to the correct standard and also ensured the correct training logs were signed off by the operator to agree to the training being completed and also by myself to show I was the correct person to carry out the training. During all of these previous build phases I had to add issues to our CCAR board, Raise AIMS against specific engineers and departments and attend/lead CCAR meetings to rectify the given issues on time and to follow up on fix point dates.
  • Jlr
    Production Operator
    Jlr Aug 2011 - Jul 2016
    Castle Bromwich
Trim & Final Operator - F-Type & XK - Line 1Working on line 1, I worked on a few different processes. I was placed on a Doors Off process which involved me fixing a few parts to the shell of the car such as the Bonnet Struts, Bonnet Release Cable, Tunnel Insulation and Boot Seal. Then to finalise the process was to remove the door from the body and put it on a carrier in front of the vehicle for the following process to proceed.Next I had worked on Front End Harness, This was on both F-Type & XK. Harness' came in sequenced to each specific vehicle and I'd remove the harness from its packaging to then fit it to the front end wheel arch & into the engine bay.Door Build was the last assignment I was placed on, on line 1. This process was to fit parts to the Left Hand Door such as, Door harness, Door Check Arm, Cheater Run Seal, Door Regulator, Door Handle & Latch, Inner Door Seal & finally Door Glass. Trim & Final - F-Type - Off Track AreaOn OTA (Off Track Area) I was used in different areas to ensure a quality product was coming off the line and sent to Handover quickly and efficiently. I worked on Drive Off which involves adding a few elements to the finished products interior to cover it up to prevent interior damage and then to drive the car off of the CAL (Customer Acceptance Line) into a rectification bay or out to another driver who would take the vehicle to Handover. I also worked on Healthcheck which involves using a Mini Computer to check all electrical components are fully functioning and there are no problems. I have worked on Drive On too which was simply to take a car from the CAL queue or Water Test queue and drive it onto the CAL & to mark on the board which process it was on there for. Finally I helped out as a Transport Assitant which entails having to find different vehicles by their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and having them brought back to the OTA for Rectification and to finalise the last stages the car has to go through on plant.
