The Interoperability and Health Information Exchange Workgroup will provide input and make recommendations on policy issues and opportunities to facilitate the sharing of health information electronically among providers and patients/caregivers, in support of care management, coordination and improvements in health. The workgroup will consider implementation learnings from the field and will align efforts with other groups (e.g. Privacy and Security Workgroup, Advanced Care Models and Meaningful Use, and the Health IT Standards Committee). The Workgroup will make recommendations that focus on policies that can help address implementation challenges and that promote a business and regulatory environment supportive of widespread information exchange in support of patient and population care. Examples of issues the Workgroup may consider include, but are not limited to health information exchange infrastructure, governance, and technology policy (such as patient matching).

The Consumer Technology Workgroup (CTWG) is charged with providing recommendations on standards and interoperability issues and opportunities related to strengthening the ability of consumers, patients, and lay caregivers to manage health and health care for themselves or others. The HITSC is a Federal Advisory committee charged with making recommendations to the National Coordinator on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information for purposes of adoption, consistent with the implementation of the Federal Health IT Strategic Plan, and in accordance by the HIT Policy Committee.

Helped to facilitate an all-day Consumer Innovation Challenge meeting on March 20, 2012 with the ONC and representatives from the Health Information Exchange (HIE) cooperative agreement programs in Georgia, Indiana, Montana, and Nebraska. Continued to assist grantees with the implementation and approach, dissemination strategy, and future plans for their projects.

Appointed by the State of Oregon to the Health Information Technology Oversight Council (HITOC) for implementation of statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE), as funded by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). Responsible for developing framework and input for technology goals based on the strategic and operational plans submitted to the ONC, including deliverables and objectives, standards, and definition of central services.

Under contract to the ONC through A+ Government Solutions worked with numerous HIE grantees implementing the Direct Project to assist in shaping their strategies, developing vendor requirements and mapping a strategy for statewide implementation to support Stage 1 meaningful use. Helped plan and implement a very successful Direct Project boot camp with ONC and Deloitte staff.

Developed recommendations to the State of Oregon Health Information Technology Oversight Council (HITOC) on its strategic and operational plan required by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) to receive federal funding for implementing State-Level HIE under the State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement.

Directed medical records department in long term care facility. Duties included medical record auditing, managing staff, filing, responding to information requests, correspondence review, creating and organizing forms.
