In 2018, I found myself at a crossroad - continue building my Agency, or accept an offer from an existing client, who challenged me to help him build one of Canada's most powerful brands in a new & evolving industry - Cannabis.Since then, I've been leading all Marketing, Product Development & Innovation at Avant, and am responsible for helping curate, build and develop our portfolio of Consumer Brands, and commercialize over 60 SKUs under BLKMKT, Tenzo, Treehugger & Cognoscente.A few of my favourite achievements in this role include:- Finding an opening in Health Canada Regulations to include full Terpene breakdowns on Product Packaging (August 2020). I worked with Health Canada, OCS Regulatory & our internal QA's to be the first brand to introduce this in the Rec Market; leading to a change in industry standards, and revisions to the Cannabis Regulations to specifically reference Terpenes as an allowed item on product packaging.- Developing & Launching Canada's first legal blunt (February 2021). This required many months of product development locally and abroad, lab testing & conversation to appease Internal QA Teams and OCS Regulatory. Blunts are now a staple in the pre-roll segment.- Launching a portfolio of Premium Craft 1-gram pre-rolls at a time where the segment was deemed dead and a bad move (internally, by local retailers and liquor boards). We had the #1 best-selling 1-gram pre-roll SKU and were in the top 10 of all pre-roll SKUs within the first quarter, which led to revitalizing the 1-gram segment.Prior to Avant, I worked as a designer, marketer, brand strategist and creative director for some of Canada's leading ad agencies, until starting my own, with a client focus primarily in Hospitality, Film & Entertainment, Food, Health & Wellness.
